For those of us with fibromyalgia, every day is another battle. We didn’t choose this battle, but we fight it anyway. Failure is unavoidable, regardless of if you have a chronic illness or not. So glory or success lies not in winning every battle, but in getting back up after the battles you lose.
Whether we realize it or not, the storms of life have a strange way of making us stronger. Don’t get me wrong – I’d much rather exchange or downgrade my “storms” for something a little more manageable, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that in many ways I’ve become a stronger person because of them.
Whether it’s a chronic illness or some other setback in life – we possess the ability to squeeze something positive even out of the direst of circumstances. While that may be of little consolation – celebrating those small victories can help renew a sense of control and boost morale amid otherwise chaotic and discouraging circumstances.
